Wedding Story Feature: Rachel & Doug

Rachel and Doug Lane met through a lifelong friend of her brother-in-law. Their love story began with a date to the movies — and the rest is history.

After Doug popped the question, Rachel stopped by Royal Affairs Ballroom one day to see the venue for herself. She conveniently worked just around the corner. Rachel loved “how clean, beautiful, and organized the venue was.”

The original plan was to have an outdoor wedding, but the often unpredictable weather in Texas threw a curveball on the day of the wedding.

“My original plan was to get married outside and have the reception at RAB, but the Texas weather had other plans and rained us out. Thankfully RAB helped us out that morning and we had the wedding there. We are so thankful for their flexibility on a very hectic but wonderful day,” said Lane.

Our team at Royal Affairs Ballroom was able to quickly pivot and prepare the venue to accommodate both the wedding and reception with ease. The decorations featured the couple’s favorite shades of blue and green along with an abundance of flowers for a summer wedding. Decorations were easy for the bride and groom, and they were able to share many items.

“I did everything with the help of my mom and sister. My sister got married less than two months later, so we shared many items,” added Lane.

The wedding was a beautiful, floral event with a full reception after which guests danced the night away.

“Dancing with friends and family was my favorite part of the reception,” said Lane. However, her most anticipated moment of the day would be the private couples dance after everyone had left to prepare for the send-off.

“I was appreciative of everyone’s help and thrilled that it all went well. So happy to be Mrs. Lane!” she said.

The staff at Royal Affairs strive to produce a stress-free event for our clients.

“They communicate very well and you feel like your event is a top priority, even when they may have many events that same weekend,” said Lane.

The Lane’s wedding inspired another future wedding at Royal Affairs Ballroom. Her sister got married here in December 2024. We loved working with this family, and we love providing excellent service to all our clients. We work hard to make every client feel special and to ensure they enjoy a stress-free day.
